What personal data we collect and why

We collect your name and email address when you sign up to receive the newsletter in order to contact you via email with monthly travel tips, photography tips, and budget travel tips.

 

We use Convertkit as our email automation service provider. When you sign up for our email newsletter and you opt-in which means you agree with the terms and privacy policy, you also understand and accept that your information will be sent to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any newsletter email that you receive from us. You can also edit your information by contacting us directly at info@browngirlsclimb.com, contacting MailChimp directly, or by updating your preferences via an email received by us.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Contact Forms

We use contact forms to enable you to contact us directly through the website. You can email us if you prefer. We will always indicate if your email will be added to any list when you complete a contact form and will enable you to opt out of this subscription.

Our newsletter, email updates, marketing campaigns and mailing subscription is provided by a 3rd party company called Convertkit. Unless you explicitly gave us permission to email you for our newsletter or marketing purposes we will not use your email address to contact you.

If you provided us with your name, it is used only to personalize and address our emails.

 

All our subscriptions are double opt in and meet GDPR requirements.

We will not offer any hidden promotions in order to trick you to sign up for our mailing list. It is our goal to be transparent about what you are signing up for.

It is your right to opt out of our subscription list at any time. You can do this at the bottom of any of our emails, and you can email brittany@browngirlsclimb.com and ask to be taken off our mailing list. Once you opt out, you will be permanently removed from our mailing list along with your data.

Google Analytics/Monsterinsights

We use Google Analytics to track our traffic and website statistics. They may receive anonymous aggregated information such as your location, how you landed on our site, links clicked, you long you stayed on our site and other statistics.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
