Black Earth United is a lifestyle and apparel brand rooted in the African diaspora's rich connection to nature.
Black Earth United is about designing product-based solutions that dismantle barriers and serve the communities that have been excluded from environmental, and conservationist history since time immemorial.
Jocelyn Rice is a mother, a Black outdoor futurist, and a 3 time gear of the year award-winning apparel designer. After more than a decade of working as an apparel designer in the Outdoor Industry, she decided to embark on a new journey and launch a brand called Black Earth United.
Jocelyn is currently on the Board of Built Oregon, and she supports and runs their Bridges program.
She is currently employed at the Design Museum as the Director of Community and Education, and she supports and runs all of their programing.
Jocelyn is currently working with Love is King on their conservation efforts by Doing a project for the Alaskan Wilderness League and donating to their organization through the project.
Jocelyn is also working on a short video to support the Water Democracy act that Designates nearly 4,700 miles of rivers in all corners of Oregon as โWild and Scenic Rivers,โ with the goals of expanding recreation access, protecting drinking water, reducing wildfire threats, and sustaining endangered fish and wildlife species.
In the future, Jocelyn will be suppling Imagine Black with Durags for their Bike Rides and Hosting Events at the Black Futures Farm.
