Nuu-Muu
Nuu-Muu is a little company with big goals that go well beyond our bottom line. We created Nuu-Muu to fill a void in women's apparel, develop community, support humans, and have a good bit of fun along the way.
In 2021, we partnered with the women of the Brave Space Film project to organize and host a fundraiser that raised over 30k for their production costs. We also donated to organizations like The Sylvia Law Project, the National Black Justice Coalition, Outdoor Afro, Native Women's Wilderness, The Venture Out Project, Campaign Zero, Vamos Outdoors, Unlikely Hikers, the National Legal Defense and Education Fund, The Matthew Shephard Foundation, The Trevor Project, the NPAP, and Black Women for Wellness. We also organized and facilitated a group reading of Resmaa Menakem's My Grandmother's Hands.
We plan to launch our mentoring program for female identifying BIPOC teens/young adults in 2022. We will also continue to dedicate resources to staff training and education. And we will continue to make monetary donations.
We are currently have certifications for: 1% for the Planet and The Conservation Alliance.
Our HQ building is LEED silver certified. We use recycled mailers and compostable bags in our packaging. And we are continuing to look for more areas where we can improve.
We would like to source a more sustainable natural option for our products and find ways to reduce our use of plastic based fabrics.
We currently carry plus sizes up to 3X. We believe this is important because women of all sizes and shapes are active, healthy athletes who like to feel good with what they're wearing.
We are currently working with a pattern maker to extend our sizing through 5x.
People who use wheelchairs describe our Ruu-Muu, Nuu-Muu and Scoop styles as extremely comfortable and functional for their lives.
