Off the Path Provisions
Off The Path Provisions offers sustainable and healthy meals for people on the go - in nature, at work, or anywhere convenient food tends to be unhealthy, bland, and in single-use packaging. By adding hot water into the heat-resistant and 100% compostable pouches, and waiting 15 minutes, your tasty Asian-inspired and vegan dehydrated meal is ready to enjoy.
Founder Melanie is a marine biologist turned food entrepreneur and the founder of Off The Path Provisions (formerly Backcountry Wok). One backpacking trip in 2017 changed it all. Despite the postcard-worthy scenery, the image that stuck with her was the garbage bag of meal packaging they accumulated. In addition, the camping meals were not nutritious and had little flavour diversity. With her background in sustainability and love for cooking, she knew this was a problem she could solve.
We plan to continue investing a portion of profits into our outdoor education program.

We believe in supporting local food systems, operating a sustainable supply chain and building economic resilience. We are proud to source from 12 Ontario farms and create more local employment opportunities. We partner with local suppliers to reduce travel distances, source imperfect and seasonal produce, dehydrate to reduce food waste, ship in repurposed boxes or compostable mailers and host workshops to share sustainable ways to explore the outdoors. Responsible consumption and production is an evolving process. We are always seeking new ways to do more and better with less.
We know we're the right company to tackle this ambitious but attainable mission of sustainability, inclusivity and nutrition in outdoor adventures. To get there, we aim to strengthen local food systems by partnering with more local farmers and using a greater variety of local produce. To increase the visibility of minorities in the outdoor industry, we will continue partnering with brands and influencers with a proven commitment to diversity. We will also be expanding our product line to bring even more representation to camping food. We have plans to introduce an Indian Aloo Gobi and a Japanese Miso Potato.
